In the world of fiction, everything is possible. Not in the cliché sense that once you believe in something it can be, rather once you imagine it – it can lead to multiple possibilities. Our ideas is limited to what we want to believe in.

Books are made of different ideals and beliefs; it is not limited to a certain degree of thinking, more so to certain types of people. It is a platform where a diverse set of people can come together and agree on a certain idea.

My mother used to write my book reviews when I was 8 since I hated reading and I didn’t understand what it was for. She never read me any bedtime stories. I wasn’t an imaginative child. I always wanted to know what was real and believed the things I could grasp with my hands. One time my mother started asking me why I wasn’t reading books like my classmates . I told her that reading isn’t for me. That was when she forced me to purchase a book. When I refused to purchase a book, my mother then said ‘Hindi tayo aalis ng mall hanggang hindi ka nakakabili ng libro.’ At first I chose a book with a cover where a man and a woman was hugging each other . Instinctively my mother told me to put the book down and get something else. I then chose the book The English Roses. It had a lovely cover that sparked my eyes and interest, not to mention it had a tiny card that made me want it more!

That night I sat on the floor right beside our refrigerator and started reading the book. At first I couldn’t even begin to fathom what it was about. I struggled to understand each sentence and connect each thought to another. A month passed and I finally finished the book and I was amazed to hear that it was a series of 12 books. Twelve books! My first thought was that if one book took me a month it is likely that it will take me a year to finish the entire series. I read the next couple of books but I never gotten around to finish it, that’s when I stopped reading books again.

At the age of 13, I was in a new school and a new environment. During lunch breaks I would see my classmates reading this huge book with a pretty woman on the cover so with my history of “auto-cover-buy” habit I asked them what they were reading. That afternoon I looked for the book like a greyhound dog searching for bones! After reading the series, which only took me 1 week each, I became inclined with books again to the point that I started a blog dedicated in reviewing books and interviewing authors, not to mention at the age of 16 I started my first venture into the world of business. I started a subscription box company that caters to readers all over the country. I was able to do something that is usually deemed as impossible for young teenagers.

The world of fiction doesn’t only exist in books; it can happen in real life. I am in my own fictional world, writing my own story as I go along through the different chapters’ life opens up for me.
